About Lucky 13

In 2008 we opened the doors of our then small shop with the goal of providing affordable high quality tattoos to our hometown and the surrounding areas. We’ve been making that goal a reality ever since. Now located at 314 West Main Street in the heart of Kutztown our shop has grown to include four very talented tattoo artists, two piercers and a piercing apprentice. All of our staff is dedicated to providing our clients with high quality tattoos and body piercings in a safe, comfortable environment. Whether it be changing out jewelry that you just cant seem to unscrew, getting your first tattoo, wanting that piercing you saw on Pinterest or getting your entire back tattooed, we have an artist that would be happy to help you. Take a look at our artists portfolios and feel free to give us a call or stop into the shop in person with any questions.

Is it safe?

Absolutely. We use brand new single use needles for each tattoo or piercing and then dispose of them properly. All of our tools, equipment and jewelry are packaged sealed and sterilized to avoid cross contamination. We have our Autoclave in the shop and it is spore tested monthly to ensure that it is working properly. We take pride in our clean, safe and comfortable tattoo and piercing spaces.

Do I need an appointment or can I just walk-in?

We do accept walk-ins when our schedules allow but for larger pieces we recommend making an appointment. We do require a non-refundable deposit for appointments which will be credited towards your tattoo when you come in to get it done.

How much do you charge?

It all depends on size, detail and placement of your tattoo design. Our shop minimum is $50 and our hourly rate is $100.

Piercings vary with most being $45 and some are more. We discount multiple piercings if you are getting more than one at a time.

How old do you have to be?

To receive a tattoo or piercing you must be 18 years or older and have proper identification. We do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18 even with parental consent. We do pierce clients under 18 (usually no younger than 12 depending on piercing) with parental consent, proper I.D. and paperwork. We need an affidavit signed and notarized (affidavit available at the shop and there’s a notary right down the street) we need a photo I.D. AND original birth certificate (we do not accept copies) for the minor and a valid photo I.D. for the parent.
What is acceptable identification?
For adults 18 and older they are one of the following:

  • A valid state issued I.D. card
  • A valid state issued drivers license (no out of country drivers licenses)
  • A valid passport
  • A valid military I.D.
  • A recent photo I.D. (like a school ID card) AND your original birth certificate.

Minors with parental consent must have all of the following:

  • Parent must be present with Photo I.D.
  • Minor must have photo ID (recent school ID, state issued ID card or drivers license) AND their original birth certificate.
  • You must have a signed and notarized affidavit (available at the shop)

All documents must be originals we do not accept copies. All forms of ID must be valid and not expired. We will not accept expired ID’s.

Can I bring my kids with me?

No, we do not allow children in the tattoo shop under any circumstances.

Why so much paperwork for my kid to get pierced?

We want to protect everyone involved as piercing a minor is a pretty big deal. No one but a parent or legal guardian can sign for a minor. They are the only adult that, by Pennsylvania state law, can make a decision for a minor that will change his or her body. These steps and paperwork help to ensure that no one but you can make a decision for your child.

Can I pay with my card?

Yes you can! We accept Visa and MasterCard. We also accept cold hard cash. We do not take checks, trades, IOU’s or payment plans. Payment in full is expected when services are complete that day.

How do I take care of my new tattoo?
  • Wash your tattoo thoroughly with a mild unscented, undyed antibacterial/antimicrobial soap and warm water.
  • Pat dry with a paper towel.
  • Apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor ointment. Your skin needs to breath to heal so don’t over do it. Less is more!
  • Re-apply ointment as needed during the day. Don’t let it dry out.
  • Always wash your hands before and after touching your tattoo.
  • The healing process usually takes 2-3 weeks but varies. Follow all the instructions you were given by your artist.
How do I take care of my new piercing?
  • Wash piercing with a mild unscented, undyed antimicrobial/antibacterial soap and plenty of warm water 2-3 times daily.
  • OR use H2ocean aftercare products 3-6 times daily by spraying the piercing, cleaning and crusty build-up off of skin and jewelry with clean finger tips.
  • For oral piercings use a non-alcoholic mouthwash to rinse your mouth after you eat, drink, smoke or have any oral contact with anyone else.
  • Do not play with your piercing! Do not “spin it” or move the jewelry unless cleaning it.
  • Do not use bactine, alcohol, peroxide, “ear care” solution or neosporin on a new piercing
  • Do not take out the jewelry until fully healed.
  • Do not apply make-up on or around a healing piercing.
  • Healing can take anywhere from 1-6 months depending on the piercing and your body. Follow all the instructions your artist has given you for the time they specified.
What kind of metal is used in the jewelry you pierce with?

We use only high quality surgical steel or titanium to pierce with. Please notify your artist of any known allergy to metals or latex so we can take the steps to protect you.

If I bring my own jewelry can you use it to pierce me and would it be cheaper?

No, we can only use the jewelry we have to make sure it is the right size and material and to make sure it is sterile.
